Week 8

Shannon of The Social Bungalow is a "marketing mentor" account with 23,000 followers. Her last post was on October 13, a post promoting strategy for small businesses preparing for this year's Black Friday sale event. The content on her page seems to get more engagement when it has to do with how to earn more; posts that begin with a question rather than an anecdote or a statement seem to do less well. Most of her posts have at least 100 comments, averaging around 200-300 comments. Since April, her like counts have varied from 360 to 1400 likes. That's a big difference in followers-to-likes ratio! Overall Instagram seems to be working for her. Her brand is casual, appealing to the girl-boss type of business owner without being too intense about it if that makes sense.

Marketing 360 is a verified account for a business management software and has almost 80k followers. The amount of likes is drastically low for the amount of followers they have, averaging about 100 likes per post. The most comments I saw while quickly scrolling was 12 comments on a post consisting of an Albert Einstein quote. This account is not very personable and is largely made up of motivational quotes. They post anywhere from once every few days to multiple times a day with their last post being October 15.

Cara of A Cara Collective is social media consultant and blogger. She has 3,880 followers on Instagram. Her content consists of social media advice and blog style posts, generally coming across as casual and fun yet put together. Her page has a very consistent look! She posts around 3-4 times a week and her last post was October 15. Ironically the posts with the least interaction seem to be posts that have to do with the social media consulting aspect of her brand, with the most engagement on her posts happening on personal posts such as a "We're moving" post as well as fan content (she is a Disney enthusiast). The social media posts usually get around 150 likes and the personal posts have gotten up to almost 900 likes.

A Creative Station is a social media consulting business with 938 followers. There's a link in the page's bio to the page owner, Bianca, who has 2300 followers. This business advertises digital marketing, web development, video/photography, and email/printmaking. Likes on this page range from 9 likes to over 50 with the most liked posts being memes. Their last post was on August 2nd, before that posting multiple times a week in July, and posting sporadically through the beginning of the year. They generally receive less than 10 comments per post.

From looking through these four accounts I've learned that people respond to posts better if they feel like they can relate to you, like you're a real person, etc. Posts that were strictly facts and statistics did not do as well as posts that had anecdotes or self portraits - again, something to make the business seem less intimidating. Posts that showed successful results also got a lot more interaction. Having learned this, I'll consider maybe rebranding and rethinking my engagement strategy going forward.

Hashtags that I will use in the future include #entrepreneurship #business #mondaymotivation #smallbusiness #socialmedia. I'll definitely keep looking at accounts and how they advertise their content through Instagram.
